John asks, "I saw an advertisement for the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard and I have to ask: why do I need a gaming keyboard? It seems to me that a regular keyboard would work just fine for gaming."

I'm not about to tell you to go out and spend $80 on a keyboard. While the G15 is an excellent keyboard - and has some great features - unless you're a serious gamer that absolutely needs an additional miniature LCD screen for statistics and several macro keys, your regular keyboard is going to work just fine for gaming.

Of course, there are a few reasons why you'd want to buy the G15 gaming keyboard, as opposed to a regular one:

• It's made to withstand the constant button mashing that gamers throw at their keyboards.
• The additional LCD screen displays anything from in-game statistics to music currently playing, and even displays the time (for you gamers that get lost in your virtual reality).
• The macro buttons are a godsend for World of Warcraft players. They allow you additional macro space that otherwise wouldn't be available in the game (minimizing those macro-swapping moments).
• The backlit keys are great for late-night, in the dark, gaming, so you can quickly glance down to make sure your fingers are twitching ont he right keys.

It's not a keyboard meant for the average user. If you're not playing World of Warcraft several hours a week, or you don't belong to an FPS clan, then this keyboard probably isn't for you. On the other hand, if you spend a lot of your recreational time gaming, you may want to invest in the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard.
