What Laptop Can I use to Play World of Warcraft?

David writes, "I'm a big World of Warcraft player, but I'm tired of always playing on a desktop - I'd like to go mobile with WoW, so do you know of any good laptops for under $1000 that will play World of Warcraft?"

A lot of Warcraft players aren't going to believe this, but by today's standards, WoW isn't a very technically advanced game. While having a lot of memory and a great video card will help out in congested areas (because drawing all of those players takes a lot of horsepower), a standard laptop can pretty much play World of Warcraft right out of the box.

In fact, I can not only show you a laptop that will play WoW for under $1000, I go show you one that will play World of Warcraft for under $500:

The Acer Aspire AS5535-5452 Notebook PC has:

  • AMD Athlon X2 QL-64 2.1GHz Dual-Core processor
  • 3GB DDR2 RAM
  • 320GB Hard Drive Space
  • ATI Radeon™ HD 3200 with 256MB dedicated video memory

I know, I know, you're thinking that those specs just aren't enough. Believe me, Warcraft will run fine on this $500 laptop - and it will even run some of your other games as well. You may notice some lag in high-population areas, but that's standard fare for an MMO these days.
