Well you're in luck Brandon, because you can get some great gaming computers in this range. There's only one problem: it's not going to come with a monitor I know, that's kind of a cop-out, but if you just save an extra $100 or $200, you can get some pretty great LCD monitors nowadays.
So, what can you expect for around $800? Well, I found one very enticing deal:
Systemax AMD Performance Gamer has:
- AMD Phenom II x4 925 2.8GHz
- 4GB DDR2
- 750GB HDD
- DVD-RW
- ATI HD 4650 1GB
So if you want to spend $800 on a pre-built system, you're going to get good mid-range performance with the ability to upgrade in the future. Of course, upgrade is what you're going to want to do in the near future, especially the RAM and Hard Drive. Later on down the road, you may want to upgrade your video card, but the HD 4650 will play most games without too much hassle.
Looking around at other pre-built system, I can safely say that you can expect comparable machines at this price point - and they're good machines. just don't expect it to play Call of Duty across 6 high-resolution monitors (one monitor will work just fine, though).
