John asks, "my old computer chair is killing my back. I'm wondering if I should invest money in a 'gaming char' rather than buying another regular computer chair. Do you have any advice?"

Products marketed as "gaming chairs" are great for lounging around in, especially if you like to sit on the floor (for whatever reason, all of these so-called "gaming chairs" don't have any legs). Unless you have a unique setup where your computer is on the floor, and you can comfortably fit your keyboard and mouse on your lap.

Personally, I recommend buying a nice ergonomic chair, instead of the throwaway computer chairs. While the ergonomic chairs tend to cost a lot more than the average chair, they have several key benefits, including relieving back strain simply lasting longer.

While you may find it odd to sit straight up while gaming, if you give it enough time your back will thank you for it.
