Using multiple monitors is a great way to enhance your computer experience. The thing about using multiple monitors is to not use them on a gaming computer.
Using two monitors usually only requires that you plug in two monitors into your video card. Using more than two requires an additional video card. Really, that's it: you just need another video card. The only problem is that it cannot be attached in SLI or Crossfire mode.
The trade-off here is that you cannot combine the rendering power of your multiple graphics cards, but you CAN run more than two monitors. This is great for your wallet, however, as it lets you use cheaper graphics cards to run your other monitors.
How cheap can you go? Well, even the PNY GeForce 9500 GT Video Card, which its $55 price, can run two monitors. Heck, by using a couple of these you can run four or even six monitors.
You just can't run them in SLI mode.
